Minister of External Relations
THE MINISTER OF EXTERNAL RELATIONS is responsible for the implementation of external relations policies decided on by the President of Republic.
As such, he is in charge of:
- relations with foreign countries, International Organisations and other organs of the International Community;
- protecting Cameroon's citizens and interests abroad;
- monitoring cooperation in collaboration with Ministries and subject to the provisions made available by particular instruments;
- following up issues related to international disputes;
- managing the careers of diplomatic staff.
In addition:
- he gathers from and shares, with Cameroon's Ministries and Diplomatic Missions, information regarding foreign countries and international organisations that could ease the action of Public Offices;
- he contributes in informing Foreign Governments, their public opinion and International Organisations and Cameroon's Diplomatic Missions on issues concerning the political, economic, social and cultural development of Cameroon in collaboration with the Ministry of Communication.
- He is Government's legal adviser in cooperation matters with Foreign Countries, International Organisations and other organs of the International Community.
- He technically supervises the International Relations Institute of Cameroon (IRIC).
He is assisted by:
- a Minister Delegate in charge of Relations with the Commonwealth;
- a Minister Delegate in charge of Relations with the Islamic World;
