The Minister of Public Works, and president of the steering committee for the construction of the Yaounde-Douala motorway, announced that the construction of this infrastructure will start during the first quarter of 2013. It will be 196 km long and will be constructed in two stretches. The first will be 100 km long and will cost CFAF 560 billion. The second, 96 km long, will extend to the Douala port Authority. The China First Highway Engineering Company is the contracting authority for this project. The maximum speed allowed shall be 110km/h.
