Prime Minister grants audience to South Korea’s Deputy Speaker

South Korea is requesting the opening of a Cameroon Embassy in their country. This will go a long way to intensify cooperation ties and business exchanges between Yaounde and Seoul.
Visiting Deputy Speaker of Korean National Assembly, Lee Yu-young made the request during an audience granted him by Prime Minister, Head of Government Joseph Dion Ngute on Friday, January 26 2019 at the Star Building.

This is the first working visit that Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute is according a foreign delegation at the Star Building.

On behalf of the Head of State he received the Deputy Speaker of the Korean National Assembly Lee Yu-young who is in Cameroon for a. official visit.

It was a curtesy call during which both parties reviewed fifty seven years of diplomatic relations which can be described as win-win.

Korea is determined to accompany Cameroon in its development drive especially in attaining emergence in 2035.

In the same light they are looking to see how to update the state of the emergency centre of the Yaounde Central Hospital as well as providing more assistance to the vocational centres created earlier on.

The Koreans are equally requesting the opening of Cameroon’s Embassy in Seoul which accord to Lee Yu-young will give more impetus to the cooperation ties and open more avenues for business exchanges.

Since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1961, ties have grown from strength to strength with cooperation agreements signed in several domains.

As regards trade between the two countries, South Korea exports to Cameroon are mainly in the area of telephones and other ICTs while Cameroon exports raw materials such as timber with an annual balance of trade estimated at 85 billion U.S. Dollars.
