Minister of Secondary Education
THE MINISTER OF SECONDARY EDUCATION is in charge of elaborating and implementing Government’s policy in the area of secondary education and teachers’ training colleges.
In this capacity, he is tasked with:
- organizing and ensuring the functioning of general and technical secondary education;
- organizing and ensuring the functioning of teachers’ training colleges;
- designing curricular and teaching methods for general and technical secondary education and supervising their implementation;
- designing curricular and teaching methods for teachers’ training colleges and supervising their implementation, in collaboration with the Ministry of Basic Education;
- ensuring the moral, civic and intellectual education of general and technical secondary school students in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Civic Education;
- elaborating and monitoring the implementation of the secondary education school map;
- elaborating, analysing and keeping secondary education statistics;
- monitoring and supervising the administrative and pedagogic management of public and private secondary education structures;
-ensuring educational guidance and planning;
- implementing the book policy for secondary education;
- monitoring the construction of school buildings and infrastructure for secondary education;
- managing and ensuring the continuous training of secondary education teaching staff, subject to the responsibilities delegated to other Ministries.
He oversees:
- the Office du Baccalauréat du Cameroun (OBC) (Cameroon Baccalauréat Board);
- the General Certificate Examination Board (GCE Board).
He is assisted by a Secretary of State, in charge of teachers’ training colleges.
