THE MINISTER OF YOUTH AFFAIRS AND CIVIC EDUCATION is responsible for the preparation and implementation of Government policy in the area of youth affairs, civic education and the promotion of national integration.

To this effect, he is in charge of:

- developing and implementing appropriate strategies to facilitate the contribution of youths to the development of the country and the promotion of peace, work, democracy and solidarity values;

- the civic and moral education of the youths;

- taking into account the preoccupations of youth in the development strategies of the various sectors;

- the social insertion of rural and urban youths;

- promoting national integration;

- the economic and social promotion of youth and their associations;

- monitor the activities of youth movements.

He monitors government support programmes for youth awareness in the urban and rural area and supervises organizations in its field of competence especially:

- the National Civic Service for Participation in Development; the National Youth Council.
