Minister of Decentralization and Local Development
THE MINISTRY OF DECENTRALISATION AND LOCAL DEVELOPMENT is in charge of drafting, monitoring, implementing and assessing Government policy on decentralisation and promoting local development.
His duties therefore, include:
- the preparation of laws and regulations on the organisation and functioning of local authorities;
- the evaluation and monitoring of the implementation of decentralisation;
- the follow-up of local authorities;
- the application of laws and regulations on civil status;
- under the authority of the President of the Republic, the management of the State on Local Authorities.
He supervises public bodies in charge of implementing decentralisation, including:
- the Special Council Support Fund for Mutual Assistance (FEICOM);
- the Local Government Training Centre (CEFAM);
- the National Civil Status Registration Office (BUNEC).
