Prime Minister presides at fourth National Cultural and Artistic Season



The Prime Minister, Head of Government, Joseph DION NGUTE launched the activities of the fourth National Cultural and Artistic Season last, September 10, 2019, at the National Museum heavily attended ceremony, under the Most High patronage of the Head of State.

The Prime Minister, Head of Government, Joseph DION NGUTE last, September 10, 2019, at the National Museum, launched the activities of the fourth national cultural and artistic season (RECAN) during a heavily attended ceremony, on behalf of the Head of State Paul Biya. Activities, are taking place simultaneously in all ten regions of the country. The theme this year is  "Contribution of the arts and culture sub-sector in the consolidation of ever greater peace, unity and harmonious living together",will take place over three weeks in a row. Four interventions punctuated the event, namely those of the Government Delegate to the Yaounde Urban Community for a word of welcome, then the representative of the artists, in the person of the writer Djaili Amadou Amal, and then the Minister of Arts and Culture, followed by the Prime Minister, Head of Government.

According to Mrs Djaili Amadou Amal, one could say that creation is a gift that can and must be oriented towards development, separately from the work of the mind used and that "to be an actor of culture, it is to refuse the conventions and the received ideas ".

 

In recognition of their talents and contributions to Cameroon's reputation, the Nation showed recognition to seven the artists in various fields. These have received honors. This included: film actor Gerard Essomba who was made Commander of the National Order of Value, Dikongué Pipa, another filmmaker and only Cameroonian who won the Yennenga Stallion at Fespaco (in 1976), Djaili Amadou Amal, laureate of the 2019 Orange African Book Award and the Prix de la Presse Française., Alenne Menguot, Jeanne Liliane Mani Mendouga, Quinta Eyong Ashu, and Elvis Bvouma.

The Minister of Arts and Culture in his speech, announced a reform of the Arts and Culture sub-sector to allow a specific and thorough deployment of artists in their various disciplines. This reform will result in a reorganization of these federations as of this cultural and artistic return, they were 23 in total. 

Recognizing Culture as a major player in the development of any country, the Prime Minister and Head of Government did not fail to recall that it "has a say in all aspects of a unitary and prosperous society" . 

To combine business with pleasure, a great parade of artists took place on the esplanade of the National Museum, grouped each in its discipline, giving to see Cameroon in all its rich cultural and artistic diversity deployed under its four sociological and cultural areas, namely the Sudano-Sahelian zone, the Grassfields zone, the forest zone and the Sawa (coastal) zone.
